Windows OpenVPN Manual Setup

Connect using the official OpenVPN GUI and a SlickVPN .ovpn config file for full manual control over your tunnel.

Install OpenVPN

Download and install the OpenVPN GUI from openvpn.net. Accept the default components, which include the TAP driver.

Download your config

From your SlickVPN account area, download the .ovpn configuration file for the server you want to use.

Import the config

Copy the .ovpn file into C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config, or right-click the OpenVPN GUI tray icon and choose “Import file”.

Connect

Right-click the OpenVPN tray icon, pick your SlickVPN profile, and choose Connect. Enter your VPN username and password when prompted.

Verify

The tray icon turns green when connected. Confirm your new IP address by visiting an IP-checking site.
