A quick tour of the SlickVPN desktop client so you know exactly what every button and indicator does before you connect.
The coloured dot at the top of the Dashboard tells you your state at a glance. Red means disconnected, amber means connecting or reconnecting, and green means you are securely tunnelled.
Enter the SlickVPN username and password from your welcome email into the Login panel and tick “Remember me” to skip this next time. These are your VPN credentials, which are different from the credentials you use on the website.
Click Locations to open the full server list. You can sort by city, country or number of available servers, and double-click any entry to connect to it immediately.
Press the large Connect button. The indicator turns amber while the tunnel is negotiated, then green once you are protected. Your assigned IP address appears beneath the button.
Under Options you can set the client to launch on startup, auto-connect to the nearest server, and pick a fixed protocol or port if your network blocks the defaults.
New installs default to the nearest server and a random port for the smoothest possible connection — you rarely need to change anything to get started.
