Ubuntu / Mint Command Line Setup

Connect to SlickVPN from the terminal on Ubuntu or Linux Mint using OpenVPN and your downloaded config file.

Step-by-step

Install OpenVPN

Open a terminal and run: sudo apt update && sudo apt install openvpn

Download your config

Grab the .ovpn file for your chosen server from your SlickVPN account and move it into a working folder, e.g. ~/slickvpn.

Start the connection

From that folder run: sudo openvpn --config yourserver.ovpn

Enter your VPN username and password when prompted.

Confirm the tunnel

Wait for the line “Initialization Sequence Completed”. Leave the terminal open to stay connected; press Ctrl+C to disconnect.
